Footcare and Foot Ailment Treatments

The team at AH Parfitt Chiropodists will require a list of your medication and will take a detailed medical history, assessing the anatomy of your foot to create a personal treatment plan for your individual foot health needs. During your treatment the podiatrist may need to use sterilised instruments and/or mobilisation techniques as well as offer medicaments. will use pre-sterilized instruments.

There are many ailments and conditions that can be successfully treated by a qualified chiropodist, these include: Aching and/or tired feet, Musckuloskeletal problems, Biomechanical abnormalities of the foot and ankle, Flat feet and fallen arches, Skin conditions, Corns and Callus, Verrucae and warts, Fungal infections of the skin and nails, Diabetic foot health, Sports Injuries and Paediatric (children’s) feet.

Screening

People with diabetes may be at risk of developing foot problems. Therefore it is beneficial to be screened, at least annually, to detect the presence of neuropathy, ischaemia and/or foot deformities.

Is a Chiropodist &
Podiatrist the same?

There is no difference between chiropody and podiatry. Chiropody is the old term for treatment by a foot health professional but the term podiatry is becoming increasingly used as it is a common term, used all over the world, for treatment by a foot health professional.
